Fêted man of sea (1)

Johnny Podlair told dreamlike stories
Before cheerful fishermen
Harmonized by hot and cold swallows
Nearby ember coal fires
In our café, in the wee hours,
And by summation; Johnny would say:
"Myths mingle with reality,
And truth's an angler's line and hook."
Muse: "When you pursue advantage,
Victories are sweet: but,
If by such triumphs you've done
Humankind disgrace; then, elsewhere,
By such profits you'll weep,
With the eternal instant's grief!"
We'd put-on those valid mazes of
"Wow and Vow!"
As it helped Johnny to carry on,
Even more, with preambles and punch lines:
"A par, fishermen's salutations are,"
He'd say, "Amends for friends or foes admired."
